cup mold

Here is a cup that I have been working on for my mold making class. Hopefully I will be able to make a mold of it, and cast an identical set of them so all the time I have put into it will be worth the trouble.

Holy smokes it’s time to update!

For some reason I thought I was immune to the problems of adding wet clay to leather hard clay. So as of late I have been working endlessly to mend some of my cracking pots that I have already spent hours on. In order to prevent this in future pots I am giving my clay time to come to the same consistency of dryness before attaching them together. I know I am talking beginning ceramics here, but some of us learn slower than others.

Here is the progression of some of the main steps of the latest pot I’ve been working on, I thought it might be fun to see.

Here are a couple of mugs that I made because I felt that I have not produced as much work this semester. I was trying to play with some different forms which might not be that evident, but I can see a difference. oh and some dude in the back, he comes around some times.

the bowl

I made this bowl and tried to make a mold of it with disastrous results. As I was tapping to get the air bubbles out the bowl floated to the top of the plaster, luckily I was able to salvage the bowl and it was not a total loss, just the day’s work. Anyway I took some pictures of it just incase the second attempt does not go as well as the first.

time to update

This is what I have been up to so far this semester, yes one pot in two weeks is not that impressive, but it's pretty good for me.

My first post ever

Well I think it’s about time that I post something on my blog. So I decided to post this video I saw on a friend’s blog. It has nothing to do with ceramics, but I thought it was neat.
